Former Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has stressed that Otto Addo must not be retained as head of the Black Stars should the team qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The 48-year-old, who was reappointed in March 2024 on a three-year deal with an option of two years, came under pressure after failing to guide the senior national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Ghana finished at the bottom of its group with just three points after six matches played.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach has revived Ghana's chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup after guiding the team to amass 19 points after eight matches played, after a 1-1 draw against Chad and a 1-0 win against Mali in the Matchday 7 and 8 games in the qualifiers.
However, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu beleives the former Ghana international is not good enough to lead the team for the Mundial scheduled for next year should the team secure qualification.
"Even if Otto Addo qualifies us, he is not a good coach to lead us to the World Cup," he told Wontumi FM.
Ghana will wrap up their qualification games against Central African Reoublic and Comoros in October.
