The Black Starlets of Ghana are gradually advancing in their preparations for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
The team on Tuesday engaged National Division One League side Golden Kick FC in a friendly encounter.
In the game, Golden Kick FC started well and took the lead in the first half with a well-taken goal that tested the resolve of the young national team.
Through the resilience of the Black Starlets, the team pushed back and equalised through Gavi Yao Robinho to restore parity to the game before the halftime break.
Although both teams will put up a combative performance in the second half in a bid to find the winning goal, neither side could find the breakthrough, forcing the contest to end in a 1-1 stalemate.
After Tuesday’s friendly, the Black Starlets will take on Auroras in another friendly on Friday. The game will serve as a curtain-raiser for the Ghana Premier League opener between Hearts of Oak and Hohoe United FC.
The Starlets continue with these friendlies, hoping to excel at the WAFU U-17 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, which also serves as the qualifiers for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
