York City enjoyed a brilliant evening at the LNER Community Stadium, sweeping aside Tamworth 4-0 in front of their home fans.
The victory was driven by a confident second-half display, with English-Ghanaian midfielder Hiram Boateng making his mark by setting up the opener.
After a goalless first half, the breakthrough came just three minutes after the restart. Boateng held his composure in midfield and slipped a clever ball to Alex Hunt, who struck cleanly into the net. The home crowd erupted, and the momentum never left York.
Alex Newby soon doubled the advantage with a tidy finish inside the box, before Hunt grabbed his second goal, capping off a sharp team move. Malachi Fagan-Walcott then sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a towering header that summed up York’s dominance.
Malachi Boateng also featured from the start, lasting 70 minutes and putting in a solid shift to help control the midfield battle.
With this emphatic win, York City now turn their focus to their next league clash against Braintree Town on September 13.
