Plymouth Argyle produced a lively performance to beat Stockport County 4-2 at Home Park on Saturday, with English-Ghanaian midfielder Malachi Boateng playing a full game and registering an assist.
The match opened with drama when Stockport’s Kyle Wootton turned the ball into his own net on 24 minutes, handing Plymouth the lead. Caleb Watts then doubled the advantage with a brilliant strike before Oliver Norwood pulled one back from the penalty spot just before the break.
Early in the second half, Boateng showed his quality. The midfielder whipped in a corner that Bradley Ibrahim smashed home to restore daylight between the sides. Plymouth fans rose to their feet, appreciating Boateng’s tireless work in midfield as he dictated play with composure.
Lorent Tolaj added a stunning fourth from distance, sparking celebrations among the home supporters in attendance. Stockport managed a late consolation through Wootton deep into stoppage time, but it was Plymouth’s day.
Argyle now look ahead to a meeting with Luton Town on September 13, carrying both momentum and belief after this spirited win.
