Ghanaian forward Nathan Opoku says he is eager to make an impact at Newport County after sealing a loan move from Leicester City until December 31, 2025.
The deal remains subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
The 24-year-old, who joined Leicester in January 2023, expressed his delight at the new opportunity.
“I’m really excited about this new challenge and to get back on the grass. I’m feeling ready and I really want to contribute to the club’s ambitions,” Opoku said.
Opoku carved out his reputation in the United States collegiate system, where he starred for Lindsey Wilson College, scoring 19 goals in 19 appearances, before switching to Syracuse University.
His 11 goals and 8 assists in 25 matches helped Syracuse clinch the NCAA Division National Championship, earning him a move to England.
Immediately after signing for Leicester, the Foxes sent him to their Belgian affiliate OH Leuven, where he gained valuable experience in the Jupiler Pro League.
His performances there underlined his versatility and attacking instincts, making him a prospect to watch.
Exiles manager David Hughes welcomed his arrival, praising both his pedigree and potential.
“We’re delighted to welcome Nathan into the group. He brings us more options to our forward line and he comes with great experience despite only being 24,” Hughes noted.
