The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has cut GHâµ58,000 ($5,000) budgeted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for fuelling the Black Stars’ team bus ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
This was disclosed by Sports Minister Kofi Adams at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, where he outlined adjustments made to the Black Stars’ budget for Match Day 7 of the qualifiers.
The Minister explained that while some expenditure items such as charter flights and accommodation were maintained, several other allocations were either reduced or removed to ensure prudent spending.
The removal of the bus fuelling allocation formed part of a broader cut that saw the team’s proposed $1.2 million budget slashed to $841,290.
The Black Stars face Chad in N’Djamena on September 4 before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8, with both games considered crucial to Ghana’s World Cup qualification campaign.
