Police Ladies’ hopes of qualifying for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League ended on Tuesday, September 2, following a heavy 4-1 loss to ASEC Mimosas in the WAFU B qualifiers.
The Ghanaian champions were outclassed at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, where the hosts secured a convincing win to book their place in the competition’s final.
ASEC broke the deadlock two minutes before halftime, capitalising on defensive lapses from Yussif Basigi’s side. The Ivorians doubled their advantage almost immediately after the restart, leaving Police Ladies with a mountain to climb.
Habibou Ouedraogo added a third with a stunning strike that left the Ghanaian goalkeeper with no chance. Police Ladies briefly gave themselves hope when Sarah Nyarko, who has been in fine form throughout the tournament, pulled one back â her second goal of the campaign.
But ASEC quickly restored their three-goal cushion with a fourth, sealing a comprehensive victory and dashing Police Ladies’ maiden bid to reach the continental stage.
The Ghanaian side will now contest the third-place playoff on Friday, September 5, as ASEC progress to the final and take one of the qualification slots for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
