The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that his administration has cancelled the payment of winning bonuses to the management team members of the Black Stars and all other national teams.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday ahead of Ghana’s clash against Chad in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mr. Adams said members of the Black Stars management committee used to be paid $10,000 as a winning bonus in the past.
Although the Minister has cancelled the payment of bonuses to the management team members, players, and technical team members will still receive winning bonuses and per diem.
“Black Stars Management Committee members were on $10,000 as a winning bonus, while players were on $5,000. Previous administrations were paying winning bonuses to Management Committee members of the national teams.
“The Sports Ministry has decided not to pay winning bonuses to the management team members of the national teams. Per diem for each Black Stars player is $150, while technical team members receive $200,” Kofi Adams told the press.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Sports and Recreation has approved an amount of $860,000 as the budget for the Black Stars’ game against Chad on Thursday, September 8.
