Kwame Thomas gave Aldershot Town fans a reason to cheer as he scored in a lively 3-3 draw with Gateshead FC at the International Stadium.
The English-Ghanaian striker, who played the full game, showed determination and presence up front, marking his goal in the 19th minute with a powerful header from Josh Barrett’s cross.
Gateshead started strong when Kyle Hurst struck early, but Thomas quickly pulled Aldershot level. Cameron Hargreaves then put the visitors ahead with a neat finish, sending them into the break 2-1 up.
The second half was no less dramatic. Hurst grabbed his second before Harry Chapman fired Gateshead back into the lead, swinging the momentum their way. Just when it seemed the home side would take all three points, Hady Ghandour stepped up, coolly finishing from close range to rescue a draw for the Shots in the 77th minute.
The result leaves both sides evenly matched, reflecting their head-to-head history. Aldershot will now look to carry this fighting spirit into their upcoming league clash with Truro City.
