Ghanaian youngster Daniel Adu-Adjei has completed a permanent transfer to Croatian top-flight club HNK Rijeka, signing a four-year contract from English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old striker makes the move in search of regular first-team football after emerging as one of Bournemouth’s brightest academy prospects in recent seasons.
Adu-Adjei enjoyed a prolific spell with the Cherries’ Development Squad, netting an astonishing 25 goals in just 16 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign.
His goal-scoring instinct and consistent performances earned him senior team involvement during pre-season, where he impressed with a fine strike against Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.
However, with opportunities in the Bournemouth first team expected to be limited, Adu-Adjei has opted to continue his development abroad.
Rijeka, one of Croatia’s most competitive and ambitious clubs, offers the teenager a platform to showcase his potential while gaining valuable experience at the top level.
The Croatian league has built a strong reputation as a springboard for young talents to develop and secure bigger moves across Europe, making this transfer a smart step for Adu-Adjei’s career.
The move is also being closely monitored by Ghanaian football fans, with Adu-Adjei tipped as a potential Black Stars striker for the future.
His pace, composure, and finishing ability will now be tested in the Croatian HNL, where he is determined to make his mark.
