Derrick Kohn has taken the next big step in his career by signing permanently with Union Berlin from Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old left-back is joining for a reported fee just under â¬5 million and is expected to add new energy to the club’s left side as they prepare for the season ahead.
Kohn is no stranger to German football. Last season, he featured in 30 Bundesliga matches while on loan at Werder Bremen, where his pace, power, and forward runs made him a key part of their campaign. His performances left a mark, and Union saw an opportunity to bring him back to the capital.
The defender’s football journey began in the academy of Hamburger SV before a move to FC Bayern Munich in 2017, where he became a standout in their U-23 side. His path later took him to Willem II in the Netherlands, then Hannover 96, followed by a spell in Turkey with Galatasaray. After scoring on his Bundesliga debut for Bremen against Mainz in February 2024, Kohn now looks to write a new chapter with Union.
