Jordan Ayew has urged Leicester City fans to not give up this early in the season after back-to-back defeats in the space of five days.
The Foxes, who are eyeing a quick return to the Premier League, saw their ambition hit the first road block after suffering a 2-1 loss to Preston North End in the English Championship on Saturday.
Before the trip to Deepdale, Leicester had suffered a first round elimination in the Carabao Cup to Huddersfield, mounting pressure on the players.
“Obviously everyone is down, nobody likes to lose,” Ayew said after the game. “It’s been a bad week, but we take it on the chin. We’re professionals, in a season there’s ups and downs. It’s still early.
“There’s a lot of things we need to improve on, and we’ll just get back to work and improve on all the areas, keep on pushing, and try to turn things around.
“It was a game where we played a bit into their hands for them to be hitting channel balls.
“It’s still early days, so we’ll keep on working. The most important thing for us is that, in May, we’ll all be happy. There’s 44 games, there’s many games, so it’s good it happens now so we can correct things quickly.”
Leicester will be on the road again in the Championship when they travel to Charlton on Saturday, August 23. Ayew believes the team will improve as the season grows, staying positive ahead of the game against The Addicks.
“That is the goal, that is the main thing,” Ayew reiterated. “We have to stay positive.
“We did some really good things, some things we didn’t do too much, but to become a successful team, you need to go through some bumps and that’s what we faced today. Hopefully this is the last one in the season.
“After a defeat, nobody likes to lose, so there’s always going to be a bit of critiques. It’s all part of the game and we’ll take it. Our main goal is still the same.
“We need to make sure we’ll be ready for the next games. There’s a game coming next week against Charlton and we need to make sure that we start picking up points, for us to have a good feeling, and confidence â to bring the smile onto everyone’s faces.”
