Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko defeated Venomous Vipers FC 3-0 in a pre-season friendly match on Monday.
The friendly match played in Cape Coast is helping the Kumasi-based club prepare for the upcoming GHALCA Top 4 tournament and the 2025/26 football season.
In the game against the lower-division side, Asante Kotoko wasted no time and dominated the contest from start to finish.
After just 10 minutes into the first half, top defender Samba O’niel equalised to shoot the MTN FA Cup champions into the lead.
That early goal unsettled Venomous Vipers FC, giving Asante Kotoko the confidence to control the game.
Before halftime, striker Albert Amoah also got his name on the scoresheet with a strike in the 36th minute to make it 2-0 for the Reds.
In the second half, Venomous Vipers defended better, but still conceded a third goal in the 58th minute.
This time around, it was Kwame Opoku who scored to seal a 3-0 win for Asante Kotoko.
This evening, Asante Kotoko are playing a second friendly match in Cape Coast against Ebusua Dwarfs.
Coach Abdul Karim Zito is taking advantage of the friendlies to give chances to fringe players to assess his full squad.
The team will be taking part in the GHALCA top tournament set to kick off on August 20.
