Ghana midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has expressed delight after Cercle Brugge secured their first win of the campaign after four matches following victpry over Westerlo in the Belgium Pro League.
Agyekum made his first goal contribution after serving an assist in the 4-1 victory at Jan Breydel Stadium.
After a draw and back-to-back defeat, Cercle entered the game against Westerlo poised for victory and did that in a dominant display in the first half, where they netted three times.
Pieter Gerkens opened the scoring in the 35 minute before Agyekum served Alan Minda two minutes later for the Green and Blacks' second. On the stroke of half time, Steve Ngoura extended the lead.
However, after the break, Jocimar Alcocer handed a lifeline for Westerlo after pulling one back with 20 minutes remaining.
But deep in injury time, Oluwseun Adewumi scored to restore the three-goal advantage and seal victory for the hosts.
"Eventually, we will get there! First 3 points of the 2025/26 season!" wrote the Black Stars midfielder on social media.
Agyekum has featured in all four matches in the new campaign for Cercle Brugge.
