The Ashanti Regional Football Association (ARFA) has concluded the second edition of the Free License D Coaching Course for Colts club coaches. The week-long training, held in Kumasi, ended on Wednesday, August 7, 2025.
The programme, part of the Ghana Football Association’s broader strategy to improve grassroots football, forms a key part of efforts to promote professional coaching standards across the country. Participants received both theoretical and practical training, focusing on areas such as grassroots coaching principles, child development, football tactics, and player safety.
The course was led by certified GFA instructors who equipped the coaches with essential knowledge to help shape young talents at the grassroots level.
At the closing ceremony, ARFA Chairman Osei Tutu Agyemang expressed his satisfaction with the outcome and encouraged the participants to apply what they have learned in their respective clubs.
“This initiative is not only about acquiring a certificate but about preparing our grassroots coaches to lay the right foundations for Ghana’s football future,” he said.
Last year’s maiden edition trained 30 coaches. With 30 more completing the course this year, the total number trained in the Ashanti Region now stands at 60. A final edition is scheduled for next year to bring the regional total to 90.
Nationally, the GFA aims to train 900 Colts club coaches. Once this year’s courses are completed, 600 coaches across the country will have been trained under the programme.
