AS Saint-Etienne head coach Eirik Horneland has welcomed the arrival of Ghanaian left-back Ebenezer Annan, describing him as a dynamic and battle-tested addition to the squad.
The 22-year-old joined the French Ligue 2 club from Red Star Belgrade, signing a contract until 2028 with an option for an extra year. His arrival is part of ASSE’s broader efforts to strengthen ahead of the new campaign, with promotion to Ligue 1 a key objective.
“Ebenezer is a powerful left-back who plays with a lot of volume,” Horneland said. “He’s an interesting player all along his flank. He comes from Red Star Belgrade, a big club that knows how to play high-stakes matches. He knows what it's like to play under pressure.”
Annan made 19 appearances last season for Red Star, helping them win both the Serbian SuperLiga and the national cup. His consistent displays and physical attributes stood out, drawing interest from clubs across Europe before Saint-Ãtienne secured his signature.
“He also has experience of international matches with Ghana,” Horneland added. “We can’t wait to get to work with him.”
Annan will wear the number 19 shirt at his new club and is expected to play a central role in their plans this season. His move was influenced by the promise of consistent playing time and a clear development path, key conditions laid out by the player and his representatives.
