Sankana (U/WR), April 16, GNA – Mr Daniel Titus-Glover, Deputy Transport Minister and MP for Tema East alongside Mr Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, the Director-General of Ghana Lotteries Authority and former MP for Asuogyaman have been enskinned as development chiefs for Sankana.
Titus-Glover was conferred the title Saabogu Naa or King of Development, while Osei-Ameyaw was given Piire Naa or King of rocks.
They were conferred the chieftaincy titles during the cerebration of Kalibi Festival which was on the theme: “Ghana beyond aid, the role of traditional rulers”.
Naa Pagranige Saakoe Mornah III, Paramount Chief of Sankana Traditional Area, conferring the chieftaincy titles on the two officials described their contributions towards development of Sankana as great and deserved recognition.
Saabogu Naa Daniel Titus-Glover beamed with ceaseless smiles and thanked the chiefs for the “big title”.
He assured the people of his support towards the community by ensuring employment opportunities were created for the people.
Piire Naa Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, on the other hand, said NLA would soon roll out a new programme which would be piloted in Sankana to help enrich the youth.
He said some of the youth would be recruited as security personnel to monitor illegal lotto operations.
“The development of this area is so dearest to my heart and I would ensure that job opportunities are created for the youth of the area and beyond,” he said
The two new development chiefs donated GH¢ 5,000.00 each while Mr Chinnia offered GHC 1000.00 in support of the celebration.
Mr Bernard Mornah, Chairman of the People National Convention (PNC), called on government and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to introduce new curriculums that would allow pupils to learn culture of their respective communities.
“How can you learn the culture of another person when you do not understand the cultural values and norms of your people,” he quizzed.
