Telesol partners MicroWorld to promote ‘eScan Aniti-Virus in Ghana
Accra, Nov. 7, GNA – Telesol Ghana Limited in partnership with MicroWorld, an advanced information security solutions developer, has introduced to the Ghanaian market one of the world’s most comprehensive and advanced anti-virus and content security solution called ‘eScan.
‘eScan, which has been embraced by many corporate organisations and government’s institutions in Ghana and across the globe, provides zero-day protection to computers from objectionable content and security threats such as Viruses, Spyware, Adware, Rootkits, Botnets, Spam and Phishing.
Assistant Vice President, ‘eScan, Nazir Kazi speaking to journalists in Accra on Wednesday said with ‘eScan network administrators in organisations could now monitor and deplore a variety of security measures such as Anti-Malware and Anti-Spam updates, and licenses custom installing.
He said it also allowed network system administrators to assign privileges to clients on access to the removable devices such as CD-ROM, and USB devices. They also can define applications that can be restricted on the client computers.
“Security is not only about anti-virus. So MicroWorld has developed a unique technology called MWL (MicroWorld Win Sock Layer), which whenever ‘eSacn is installed on any window based platform all the data is scanned on the MWL technology – this scan for all emails, attachments, audio and video images, java script, websites." After everything is scanned, the action comes as delete, disinfect, and quarantine much before the data goes down to the data on the hard drive.
“Because of this the system performance, CPA usage is less and there are no compatibility issue with the type of application being used.”
Kazi said ‘e Scan enabled the system administrator to schedule scanning time because it has separate setting for schedule scanning option that helps to schedule automatic scans on the system at a preset time. It helps organise the schedule to check specific directory or local, hard disk and has an option for the scanning on the basis like once, hourly, daily, weekly and monthly.
In terms of data protection, ‘eSacn anti-virus scans the data stream of a file to detect hidden Malware which consists of all types of files including zipped and archived.
"So the whole idea is to give restricted access to software and hardware in the work place to reduce security threats. We have incorporated all security related features in one product and in one price so with ‘eScan you can set different policy to different users; different employees to different departments to the network. For example for some employee you set a policy to use USB port and others not to,” Kazi said.
“Our aim is to position ‘eScan properly in this market and to grow the channel business, train the channel and make sure that brand becomes very successful in the market," Telesol Ghana Limited Chief Executive Laide Temowo said.
He added "'eScan is very affordable to consumers in Ghana and in Africa. With just about the GH¢ 30, a customer can have access to ‘eScan anti-virus”.
Telesol is a full-service and training provider specialized in the distribution of telecommunication equipment and value added training to support end users.
MicroWorld, incorporated in USA, has also introduced eScan Anti-Virus for Android operating system mobile phone and tablets, which Telesol will be promoting in Ghana as well.
In 2009, MicroWorld became Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with its eScan product winning several AV-Comparatives and VB100% awards that same year after passing several rigorous tests and certifications by reputed independent evaluators of the security industry.
