Presiding Members discuss ways to enhance performance in Kumasi
Kumasi, Oct. 31, GNA – About 150 Presiding Members (PMs) of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) on Wednesday gathered in Kumasi to discuss ways to strengthen the performance of the assemblies.
The three-day meeting is meant to assist them to have clear understanding of their roles and to carefully examine measures to bring more progress to the people.
Nana Owusu Appeasa II, the acting Chairman of the National Association of PMs, reminded his colleagues to establish good working relationship with the Chief Executives and the other staff.
He said this was vital for the smooth running of the assemblies.
He said the decentralization policy had put a lot of responsibilities on them and that they needed to work assiduously to inject some pace into the development of the communities.
Nana Appeasa advised them to be fair and transparent in their conduct to sustain the confidence and trust of the assembly members.
They should do everything to ensure that the assemblies remained non-partisan.
