The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has opened a newly constructed and fully equipped Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Juapong.
The facility, built in partnership with the Engage Africa Now Foundation, was completed in six months and is furnished with medical equipment donated by the MP. The clinic has the capacity to handle up to 3,000 safe deliveries annually, a development expected to significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes in the constituency.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Ablakwa also announced several other approved projects for the area. These include the construction of key road networks such as the Aveyime-Asutsuare road, the Juapong-Podoe-Abutia road, and the Sege-Battor-Mepe road. He added that plans are also underway for the construction of the Volivo-Dorfor Adidome bridge over the Volta River, as well as new dormitories, dining halls, and laboratories for all five Senior High Schools in North Tongu. Additionally, a teachers’ bungalow will be built for teachers.
The MP also said his office will absorb the cost for all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the constituency to check their results for free this year. This is a continuation of an annual financing support for BECE candidates.
Ablakwa assured his constituents that North Tongu would continue to benefit from more projects and initiatives under President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda. He however assured his constituents that “despite his busy national and international responsibilities,” he will endeavour to honour his responsibilities as a legislature.
