When tiny green heads of new plants
Poke up from a freshly parched earth
Around the patches of melting snow
Then know that spring is here
To last
Until another season turns to come around
Then know that life lasts because spring starts
Then know that life longs to last
Long as the greens spring brings
When little plants look up
…and hold out tiny leaves towards the sun
…and push roots deep down into the ground
…and spread out roots through the ground
That’s when to spread out
And look up
From spring to spring
When dead shrubs
And dying trees
Bounce back in life’s weed
And their withered leaves
…fling open heavenward
That’s when to open your arms
…to embrace life to wither no more
From spring to spring
When roots of older plants
Drink the water of spring
They live again on the water spring brings
The water goes up through the plant
And into the new little leaves
That’s when to drink
…to spring to live a new life
Spring after spring
Fruits of older trees are not left out
They suck in the water of spring
Water that nurtures to nourish
New fruits that bloom into balls
That’s when water of life
…walks down dry throats
To nourish to bring new life
From spring to spring
Then the land turns green
Green that means food
Food that greens the field
Field that has food from many yields
Hunger that now begins to disappear
That’s when to turn from the scarcity
…and tear into the plenty
From spring to spring
One more time
Plants and animals
Two living things of some kind
Begin life anew
In the springtime
Yet one more time
Man living on the land
A being living
The only kind
Begins life anew
From springtime to springtime
