A serial columnist, especially between the period of 2017-2020, V. L. K. Djokoto authored numerous groundbreaking articles exploring diverse themes — but prominently focused on history and culture, which were widely published by Ghana’s leading news platforms.
Avid readers of V. L. K. Djokoto would certainly agree that he places a rather sharp focus on quality, and not quantity, or clout.
An opinion-editorial, backed with historical facts, and published in 2020 — ‘E?eto and the Partitions of E?eland’ — made it into the landmark book ‘Securitising Decolonisation: The Silencing of Ewe and Togoland Unification under United Nations Trusteeship, 1945-1960’, Postcolonial Studies, Volume 51.
This publication, authored by Julius Heise, constitutes a shortened version of the doctoral dissertation ‘Give Unification or We Perish’: The (failed) Securitisation of Ewe and Togoland Unification under United Nations Trusteeship submitted to the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Marburg.
“I’m glad that, standing on the shoulders of historians like Charles M. K Mamattah, my work could be used in the modern-day enlightenment activities,” V. L. K. Djokoto said.
The research was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and Philipps-Universita?t Marburg. The Deutsche Nationalbibliothek lists this publication in the Deutsche Nationalbibliografie. V. L. K. Djokoto (b. 1995) is a forward-thinking Ghanaian cultural theorist, financier and art collector.
He leads D. K. T. Djokoto & Co — an old-fashioned top-tier multi-family office, established in 1950 — which is deeply anchored on residential real estate; steers the wheels of rural development across coastal Ghana; curates a historic Pan-Africanist newspaper, delicately rebranded into a post-partisan cultural journal; and finances a cultic arts and culture department intensely focused on engineering a radiant legacy.
Through expertly crafted artistic experiences, Djokoto seeks to mobilise Ghanaians weaving African music, literature and art. His debut book — Revolution — comes out this year.
