A daring armed robbery attempt at the MRB Rural Bank in Winneba was foiled in the early hours of Friday, August 15, 2025, after a monitored alarm system operated by Response One Ghana Limited, a leading technology security solutions enabler, transmitted an instant signal to its 24-hour alarm monitoring centre.
At about 1:00 a.m., intruders cut through the bank’s burglary-proof barriers to gain entry. Security guards were overpowered and the alarm device was smashed into pieces.
What the criminals did not know was that the system had already transmitted an instant electronic signal to Response One’s monitoring centre. Within seconds, the alert was relayed to the Ghana Police Service Communication Department, which coordinated with the Anti-Armed Robbery Response Unit (AARU) in Winneba.
A patrol team was dispatched and arrived quickly to prevent the robbery.
Managing Director of Response One, George Anderson, commenting on the matter, said: “This case demonstrates the strength of monitored alarm systems. Even when barriers are cut, guards overpowered, or equipment destroyed, the signal is already moving — and help is already on the way.
At Response One, we are committed to ensuring that the same protection available to banks is extended to homes, shops, estates, and businesses across Ghana, so every client enjoys safety and peace of mind”.
Beyond banks – security for everyday targets
While banks are often prime targets, criminals also focus on shops, fuel stations, warehouses, estates, offices, and family homes. The same technology that protected MRB Rural Bank is also protecting businesses and households across Ghana — ensuring that rapid response, even when criminals think they have the upper hand.
