As part of its commitment to supporting communities and empowering vulnerable groups, the Finance Department of Stanbic Bank Ghana donated to the Village of Hope Orphanage in Gomoa Fetteh.
At a short ceremony at the Village, the bank’s representatives presented a GH?50,000 donation to help fund educational needs for children in the care of the orphanage.
Samuel Akrofi, Head of Procurement for Stanbic Bank Ghana, who led the team explained, “We are here at Village of Hope today to express our love and support for the orphanage.
As a bank, we encourage our staff to contribute part of their earnings towards a social intervention of their choice as part of our corporate social responsibility projects.
The bank then matches the funds in support of the cause. As the finance community, we chose Village of Hope because we believe in the work they do – that is providing care for children and young adults.”
The donation is intended to support the children preparing to return to school, covering tuition, supplies, and other school-related expenses.
Mr. Akrofi added, “We believe that this token will support the orphanage to provide the children with their needs as they return to school, allowing them to focus and thrive. The Bible says in James 1:27 that “pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after orphans and widows” and we sought to do just that.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of Village of Hope, Senior House Father, Rexford Asomi, expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire community, “We are very much grateful. On behalf of my elders, siblings, and most importantly, the children, we say a very big thank you. May God continue to bless Stanbic Bank for their good works.”
Established 28 years ago, Village of Hope currently houses around 240 children, including babies, high school students, and university-goers.
Mr. Asomi highlighted the financial needs the orphanage faces, especially for the 50 children in university who rely on the Village of Hope for tuition, housing, and essential items.
He extended a heartfelt appeal to the public: “We plead with workers, churches, and families to have mercy on us.
“We have trained over 120 children who are now contributing to society as independent adults in various professions, including medicine, nursing, banking, and teaching. As the year comes to a close, please remember Village of Hope in your celebrations.”
Through this act of kindness, Stanbic Bank Ghana reinforces its commitment to community empowerment and aligns with its core values of responsibility and service to society.
The bank’s staff-driven CSR initiative and donation matching program encourage employees to make a meaningful difference, enabling Stanbic Bank to support impactful causes that resonate with their teams.
