Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said he will prioritse the private sector to complement government’s development agenda if elected as President.
The Vice-President in his address to some Ghanaian youth on Sunday, November 3 underscored the need for more infrastrcture projects to be given to the private sector under a concession agreement to ease off government’s expenditure.
Dr. Bawumia assured that if elected as the next President, road construction projects and other infrastructure project will be handed over to the private sector under a concession agreement with the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).
“My administration will incentivise the private sector to complement government in the provision of many infrastructure and other services to reduce government expenditure and improve maintenance.
“We are going to do something that has not really been done before. We are going to engage the private sector to build roads, schools, hostels, houses for government and to rent or lease to own.
“I believe that the private sector should finance the construction and maintenance of roads through PPA concession arrangement,” he stated.
He added “With this approach, the budget can save very significant outright cash expenditure annually from various items across Ministries, agencies, department.”
