Bibiani Gold Stars missed the opportunity to widen their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Vision FC.
The defeat was particularly costly as closest challengers Nations FC also dropped points, meaning Gold Stars could have strengthened their position at the summit.
Nevertheless, head coach Frimpong Manso remains optimistic about their title hopes.
“We have four games left , three of them at home. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re motivated to push harder. Even for the away game, we’ll fight for something. We’re still on course to win the league,” he said
Gold Stars, who had recorded three consecutive clean sheets before the match, managed to keep Vision FC at bay during a goalless first half. However, the hosts broke the deadlock ten minutes after the restart through Edward Agyemang.
Edmond Asante sealed the win for Vision FC with a late strike, four minutes from time, ensuring Nana Kweku Agyemang’s side claimed a much-needed victory.
The result lifts Vision FC back above Accra Lions into 14th place, while Gold Stars see their lead at the top trimmed to just two points.
