Nations FC center back Razak Simpson is eyeing a return to the Black Stars fold ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March after impressing in his first two outings.
Simpson was called up to the Black Stars for the first time in November 2024 for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The imposing center back made his debut for Ghana in a 1-1 draw against Angola on November 15, putting up a sound showing.
“When I wore the shirt, it became heavy on me but I reminded myself that this is what chose to do. So I had to put everything aside and play,” he said after his debut.
His impressive debut saw him start Ghana’s final AFCON qualifier against Niger three days later.
Although the Black Stars finished bottom of their group and failed to qualify for the tournament, Simpson was a shining spark.
Eager to build on his first two caps, the defender says he’s awaiting a call-up ahead of March’s World Cup qualifiers.
“Personally, he [Otto Addo] gave me the encouragement and everything. He said a lot of things to me, like I can do it, if not I could not have been there, he said on 3Sports’ GPL Xpress.
“I’m expecting another call up and hopefully we will see,” he added.
Ghana, second in Group I, take on Chad and Madagascar as they vie for a place at the global showpiece.
