As of September 6, 2024, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had observed that 243,540 previous transfers were added to the 2024 voter transfers, causing a repetition of names.
Among the infractions the party identified were 15,000 unidentifiable voter transfer paths, 3,957 voter names from the 2023 register deleted from the 2024 provisional register and others.
In the Absent Voters List, a total of 2,094 transferred voters were not found even as the party also observed several corrupt files, i.e. no names, no photos of affected voters.
With these discrepancies, the NDC maintains it cannot trust the Electoral Commission (EC) because the electoral management body lacks credibility and reliability.
“Trust frowns upon self-interest and bias,” the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Omane Boamah said on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Below are the reasons the NDC cited for its mistrust in the EC:
- “EC is a crime scene: stolen BVR laptops under CCTV surveillance and military and police protection.”
- “Inability to answer 35 questions on stolen BVRs and BVDs posed by NDC at IPAC.”
- “Denying NDC from recording serial numbers of BVR kits during 2024 LVRE.”
- “The abrupt but aborted directive to withdraw agents during 2024 transfers.”
- “Failed promises: Delayed release of PVR to NDC ahead of 2024 exhibition exercise contrary to three broken promises.”
- “Failed promises: Assurance to fix network challenges during LVRE [and] failure to present EC’s IT team to IPAC for deliberation on network failures.”
- “Arithmetic errors: 2020 presidential elections – declare, correct and correct again [and] 2024 limited voter registration exercise – CorelDraw.”
- “EC’s false narrative on outcomes from our meeting on discrepancies.”
