Nana Oduro Panin Burikuran, the Chief of New Edubiase, has hailed the free Senior High School (SHS) policy of the NPP government, and described it as the greatest intervention in the nation’s education sector which has alleviated the burden on parents and guardians.
He stated that, owing to the life-changing impact of free SHS, Ghanaians must do everything to protect the policy from a possible cancellation by future governments.
Nana Oduro made these remarks during a courtesy call by Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, to the New Edubiase Chief Palace during his campaign tour of New Edubiase, Obuase East and West.
“The NPP has demonstrated that it holds the blueprint for the prosperity and progress of our country. We have, among other achievements, expanded access to secondary education for 5.7 million young adults through the flagship Free Senior High School/Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SHS/TVET) policy, consistently provided meals to over 4 million children in early childhood and primary schools through the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), and kept the lights on for almost eight years, powering homes, businesses, and industries. Dr. Bawumia is also articulating bold solutions for the future, something that cannot be said of our opponents,” Dr Prempeh touted.
According to the Chief, since free SHS is an NPP initiative, the best way to protect the policy, is to allow the NPP to continue to be in government so that they can protect their legacy which has benefitted every household. The Chief recounted how Free SHS benefited his household and the need to ensure that the policy continues to exist so that many more Ghanaians can benefit from it.
The Chief also commended the government for undertaking many developmental projects in the area. He mentioned in particular, the construction of roads as well as school and hospital infrastructure.
On his part, Dr. Prempeh while thanking the Chief and people of New Edubiase for the warm reception, appealed to them to vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party’s parliamentary candidate, George Oduro for the NPP to rightly reclaim the New Edubiase seat, which they lost in the last elections.
The running mate to Dr. Bawumia concluded his constituency-focused campaign tours for the day visiting Obuasi East and West, where he rallied support for the party’s flagbearer and parliamentary candidates, Dr. Patrick Boakye-Yiadom for Obuasi East and Kweku Kwarteng for Obuasi West. Obuasi East and West made a powerful statement, sending an unambiguous signal that it solidly supports Dr. Bawumia. They strongly acknowledged that Dr. Bawumia remains the most reliable leader of character for the future.
Addressing a massive campaign rally in Obuasi, NAPO painted a stark picture of the NDC’s neglect, highlighting the devastating impact of their tenure. He revealed that, the collapse of Anglo Gold Ashanti, the NDC’s neglect of critical infrastructure projects, and failure to harness Obuasi’s gold resources for local benefit left the area impoverished.
In contrast, NAPO showcased the NPP’s transformative achievements, including the revitalization of Anglo Gold Ashanti.
