Brazil clawed their way back after going down early against Cameroon in Wednesday night’s U-20 Women’s World Cup game in Bogotá, to defeat the Lioness 3-1.
Naomi Eto opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a close-range finish to extend her goal tally in the competition to four.
However, Brazil’s Priscila made no mistake from the spot 10 minutes from the break as her penalty pulled parity for Brazil.
Both sides failed to add to their advantage in the second half, leading to an extra 30 minutes in Bogotá.
Dudinha put Brazil ahead with a well-taken goal, making the task more daunting for debutants Cameroon.
However, as the Lioness threw bodies forward in search of an equalizer in the dying embers of the game, Brazil picked them apart, with Dudinha bagging her brace deep in stoppage time.
Elsewhere, hosts Colombia beat South Korea 1-0, while defending champions Spain edged Canada 2-1.
Jordynn Dudley’s goal in extra time sent record-holders USA through to the last eight as Mexico succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.
