AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine has donated nine Motorized Tricycles (Aboboyaa), assorted agricultural equipment and various items worth GHC600,000 to eight Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) inAdansi, Amansie and the Ashanti Region.
The Municipal Assemblies are Obuasi and Bekwai, while the districts are Adansi South, Adansi North, AdansiAsokwa, Amansie Central, Obuasi East and Akrofuom.
The equipment received by the MMDAs are to be presented to the best Farmers of the various categories in their areas.
The Ashanti Regional Best Farmer also received a motorised Tricycle, Multi Crop Thresher and other agriculture inputs.
AngloGold Ashanti also took care of the Best Oil Palm Farmer, as well as the Best Female Farmer categories in the eight MMDAs.
Mr Yaw Britwum Opoku, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist of AGA, at the presentation ceremony expressed the wish that the items donated will motivate others to take up farming as a sustainable income earning activity.
The Ashanti Regional Director of Agriculture, Mr Paul Amoh Korang, who received the items on behalf of the MMDAs and the Region thanked AGA for the donation.
“It is not easy to come by these equipment, considering the amount involved in their procurement”, the Director added.
