NPP Walewale primary: I am really disappointed – Chairman of election committee

Chairman of the election committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for the Walewale Constituency parliamentary priamary re-run, Alhaji Masawudu Osman has expressed disappointment at the turn of events after the Electoral Commission annulled the election.

Officials of the Commission were compelled to cancel the poll because a significant number of the ballot papers were destroyed during a ballot box snatching incident.

“I am very disappointed…this is a matter that has been annulled by the EC for not being completed. I cannot say much here, we will take everything back to the national party so that the National Council of the party will decide on the Walewale matter,” he said.

Earlier, the Commission declared the parliamentary primary null and void.

According to the Walewale EC Regional Director, most of the ballot papers have been damaged and cannot be identified for candidate A or B.
