The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has described the development agenda of the next NDC government as a bottom-up approach designed to effectively benefit the lot of Ghanaians.
According to the running mate of NDC flagbearer Mr John Dramani Mahama, the plan has been crafted to address the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians, especially those in the informal sector.
“You are the reason we are coming back to government to rescue this country from collapse. So our development plan is to ensure that you get the benefit of good governance,” she said.
Addressing a durbar of traders at the Winneba market in the Central Region as part of her campaign tour of the region on Friday, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the ultimate development goal of the NDC is to restore hope and improve the wellbeing of the people.
“We shall still build the markets, the schools, hospitals and road as we did in the past, but this time we shall do more to directly impact informal sector workers like you traders,” she told them.
She cited various interventions such as the Women’s Development Bank which will boost and uplift the status of female traders and women’s small scale enterprises.
The welfare of women, she explained, has been prioritised in the party’s development plan because the financial progress of women directly benefits men and households as well.
The interventions, she said, would be supported by the 24-hour economic policy to create jobs and wealth for Ghanaians.
In that regards, she called on the people of Winneba to support the 24-hour economy vision by voting massively for the NDC at the impending election to ensure that Ghana returns to the path of progress
