25th TGMA: It took less than a week for Stonebwoy’s stagecraft – Efua Sutherland

Elizabeth Efua Sutherland, the creative director behind Stonebwoy’s incredible performance at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards [TGMA], has disclosed that the stagecraft was completed in less than a week.

Stonebwoy’s stellar performance during the 25th TGMA was applauded by many who watched the concert and showered praises for the creative director behind the incredible performance.

The ‘Manodzi’ crooner stole the show for the night with his amazing performance which leaded the social media conversation during the awards night.

Speaking in an interview on ChannelOne TV over the weekend, Efua Sutherland said she received a call about the stage craft for Stonebwoy’s performance at a later time than expected.

“This was less than a week…We got the call quite late… I normally put such an act within 6 weeks…It’s great to see people appreciate the hard work,” she noted.

The creative director said she enjoys working with “conscious artistes” – a quality she sees in Stonebwoy.

Efua Sutherland is following in the footsteps of her legendary late grandmother, Efua Theodora Sutherland – a playwright, dramatist, and poet.

The 25th TGMA happened at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre [AICC] on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

The event was massively attended and filled with celebrities who displayed their fashion styles.

Stonebwoy, whose real name is Livingstone Etse Satekla, not only took home the coveted “Artiste of the Year” award and the artiste with the most awards on the night (six awards) but also dominated the stage with his live band.

The iconic Afro-Dancehall/Reggae artiste performed songs including ”Manodzi” which features multiple Grammy-award-winning songstresses Angélique Kidjo and ‘Your Body” an unreleased song.

Stonebwoy won the Artiste of the Year award, his second time winning, Songwriter of the Year, Record of the year and three other awards.
