Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed optimism about the team’s chances of overcoming FC Samartex to reach the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup.
The Yellow and Mauves will host their Ghana Premier League opponent this weekend in a highly anticipated showdown in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16.
Speaking in his pre-match interview, Ibrahim Tanko acknowledged the quality of FC Samartex, noting that the contest will be very tough.
He is, however, confident that Medeama SC can brush aside the opponent after 90 minutes to reach the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup.
“FC Samartex is a very strong side. Last five games, they have not lost, and they play very well when they go away. They went to Aduana and picked a point, so definitely they are a real threat. But like I said, we are playing at home, we want to control the game and create chances. I think, based on the training we are doing, I’m sure we are going to get the needed result,” Ibrahim Tanko told Medi TV.
The MTN FA Cup Round of 16 clash between Medeama SC and FC Samartex will be played on Saturday, February 7, and is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm at the TnA Stadium.
