Fidelity Bank has extended a generous donation of GH¢50,000 to support the construction of a proposed press centre for journalists in Kumasi. The presentation was made during a media training session held at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi, underscoring the bank’s commitment to strengthening media infrastructure and promoting professional journalism in the Ashanti Region.
The cheque was received on behalf of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) by the Ashanti Regional President, Kofi Adu Domfeh, and the Regional Secretary, Beatrice Spio Gabrah. The donation is expected to provide a significant boost to the long-anticipated press centre project, which aims to serve as a hub for media practitioners in the region, offering space for training, collaboration, and press-related activities.
In his remarks, Mr. Domfeh expressed heartfelt appreciation to Fidelity Bank for the support, noting that the gesture reflects the institution’s recognition of the vital role journalists play in national development. He emphasised that the press centre would not only enhance the work of journalists but also contribute to the broader goal of promoting transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse.
Mr. Domfeh was quick to acknowledge the efforts of the former GJA regional executive, who initiated the groundwork that paved the way for the current achievement. He stressed that the donation was a testament to the continuity of vision and leadership within the Association, assuring members that the project would be pursued with renewed vigor until completion.
