England manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that his outfit will face a tough test when they come up against Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Three Lions were drawn into Group L at the end of the draw procedure in Washington on Friday, December 5.
Besides Ghana, England will contend with Croatia and Panama, in what should be an exciting group contest during the tournament.
Speaking to BBC Sport on the sidelines of the draw, Thomas Tuchel described Ghana and Croatia as strong nations, insisting that facing them will be difficult.
“Difficult opener, difficult group. With Croatia and Ghana, two regulars at World Cups and two proud, strong nations,” Tuchel said.
While the England manager is wary of the threat posed by Ghana’s Black Stars, he is confident his Three Lions have enough quality to advance from Group L.
“For me, I’ve only experienced group football in Champions League formats, and the approach was always to give it maximum respect and focus on winning the group. It always looks tough â just like our group now â but we’re confident and we’ll be fully prepared when we arrive," Tuchel added.
For Ghana, coach Otto Addo will need to prepare well with his side and punch above their weight to stand any chance of making it into the knockout stage.
