Danish midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Nikolas Nartey, was in action for VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday night, helping the team to secure a 2-0 victory over VfL Bochum in the DFB Pokal.
The Round of 16 clash saw Nartey start on the bench, but he made a strong impact after being introduced in the 61st minute.
Stuttgart took the lead early in the game when Philipp Strompf inadvertently headed the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous cross.
Just after the restart, Deniz Undav doubled the advantage, rising to meet a cross and directing a precise header inside the right post.
Nartey’s arrival added further control in midfield as Stuttgart maintained their dominance and comfortably saw out the match.
His composed display contributed to a disciplined team performance that secured a deserved progression to the next stage of the competition.
Following a strong performance in the DFB Pokal, the Danish-Ghanaian midfielder will be hoping to play more minutes in Stuttgart’s next match against Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.
