Ghana goalkeeper Joseph Anang has been shortlisted for the Soccer Writers Ireland (SWI) LOI Goalkeeper of the Year Award following a stellar campaign with St. Patrick’s Athletic in the 2025 League of Ireland Premier Division.
Anang enjoyed an outstanding season between the sticks, finishing with the most clean sheets in the league while leading a defensive unit that conceded the fewest goals throughout the campaign.
His consistency, sharp reflexes and leadership were central to the Saints’ impressive defensive record as they mounted a strong push across the season.
The 24-year-old made 36 appearances, conceding only 32 goals and keeping an exceptional 18 clean sheets, underlining his status as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league.
His form has not only earned him praise in Ireland but has also strengthened his standing within the Ghana national team setup.
Anang will compete for the prestigious honour alongside Shamrock Rovers’ Ed McGinty and Brian Maher of Derry City, both of whom also enjoyed solid campaigns for their clubs.
The winners of the 2025 SWI Awards will be announced on Friday, December 5th, where Anang will hope to cap off his remarkable season with one of Irish football’s top individual accolades.
The former West Ham player made his international debut for the Black Stars in last week's friendly match against Japan.
