A determined Eleven Wonders earned a valuable point with a late 90th-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 with Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The bottom-placed Wonders arrived on the back of three straight defeats, which prompted the resignation of coach Josef Emmanuel Sarpiong after just 20 days in charge.
Hohoe United looked set to take full advantage, with Safianu Usman opening the scoring in the 28th minute. The home side appeared in control, especially when Wonders were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute.
However, Mathew Amponsah’s brilliant solo effort from the wing restored parity, rifling the ball into the top corner to secure Wonders’ first point after four successive losses. The result brought relief to the visiting team, now on three points after 11 games, though they remain among the league’s lowest-performing sides.
Hohoe United, meanwhile, extended their winless run to six matches and remain just two places above the relegation zone. Eleven Wonders will aim to build on this performance in their next game against Dreams FC, while Hohoe United face a challenging away trip to Bechem United in the coming week.
