Veteran coach Josef Emmanuel Sarpong has stepped down as head coach of Eleven Wonders, bringing an early end to his brief spell in charge ahead of their Ghana Premier League match against Hohoe United this weekend.
Reports indicate that Sarpong tendered his resignation on Friday, just 20 days after taking over the role on November 2.
His departure comes after a difficult run in which the team lost all three matches under his supervision. Wonders were beaten 2-1 by Vision FC in his first game, followed by a 1-0 defeat to Aduana FC, before suffering a 2-1 loss to Medeama SC. The poor results deepened the club’s struggles and added pressure on the technical team.
Sarpong had replaced Nii Odartey Lamptey, who left his post after the club’s troubled start to the campaign. Eleven Wonders remain bottom of the league table with no victory, eight defeats and two draws, marking one of the most challenging openings to a season in their history.
The club will now be forced to act quickly as they seek stability and improvement in a campaign that already appears to be slipping away.
