Head coach of Ibrahim Tanko has eulogized the inclusion of duo Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, describing their call ups as well-deserved.
The pair joins Hearts of Oak captain Benjamin Asare as the only home-based players to have made the cut for the upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Ghana are set to face Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, as part of preparations ahead of the team’s fifth FIFA World Cup appearance in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026.
Both Owusu and Nkrumah are expected to add energy and flair to Otto Addo’s squad as Ghana tests its strength against two top Asian sides.
Speaking to the club’s media, the former Ghana assistant gaffer affirmed the Medeama duo deserve their place in the Black Stars considering their performance in the current Ghana Premier League campaign.
“Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah deserves their Black Stars call up considering their performance so far this season. I hope they get some minutes and showcase their talent to Ghanaians. We are behind them in prayers and also wish them well” he said.
Prince Owusu made his debut for the Black Stars in final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, making substitute appearance against Madagascar.
Meanwhile, Kelvin Nkrumah will be aiming for his first appearance for the West African giants.
