Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that the state did not fund Black Stars' upcoming friendly games against Japan and South Korea.
As part of the team's preparations ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the senior national team are currently in Asia preparing for the friendly encounters.
The Black Stars will come up against Japan in a Kirin Cup on Friday, November 14, before taking on South Korea in Seoul four days later.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Asante Twum revealed that even though the Football Association informed the Minister of Sports and Recreation but no funds were released for the games.
"The games will be funded by the two teams that invited the Black Stars; we didn't take any money from the ministry," he said.
"Even though I know the GFA President [Kurt Okraku] has informed the sector minister of these two matches, there is no funding from their end. They gave us their blessing to go ahead with the games, but with no funding.”
Quizzed on whether players will receive any extra bonuses as part of the tour, Asante Twum clarified, "Yes, there will be no winning bonuses; it will just be the per diem agreed between the GFA and the players."
19 players were involved in the team's first training session on Wednesday, but the rest of the invited players have all teamed up with the team in their camping base.
Kick off for the game is scheduled at 10:00 am.
