Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is reassuring Ghanaians of an improved performance from the Black Stars in upcoming matches once all key players return to full fitness.
Twum expressed confidence that under new coach Otto Addo, the team’s prospects will significantly improve, despite recent setbacks.
Addo’s return to the coaching helm followed the dismissal of Chris Hughton after a disappointing campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). However, the team’s initial matches under Addo saw mixed results, including a loss to Nigeria and a draw with Uganda, with several key players sidelined due to injuries.
Looking ahead to the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic in June, Asante Twum is optimistic, noting that it coincides with the period when major leagues conclude, allowing players to regain full fitness.
“We should have all of our players fully fit by the time the season ends, so I’m confident that we will be in a strong position to compete very soon,” Twum affirmed on Akoma FM, highlighting the importance of key players such as Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey.
“Kudus, Thomas, Amartey, Djiku, Gideon Mensah, and all of our key players are fit [should be] fit and healthy.

Twum also expressed satisfaction with the recent success of Inaki Williams, who won his first trophy with Athletic Bilbao, hoping it will boost his confidence for the Black Stars.
The next matches are crucial for Ghana who need to top Group H to qualify for the next World Cup without problems. After winning one and losing the other in the first two round of matches, the Black Stars are fourth on the table behind Comoros, Mali, and Madagascar.
