The Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) has celebrated its historic victory in the maiden MTN Elite U19 Championship, describing the triumph as a proud moment in the region’s football history.
Eastern Region defeated Brong Ahafo Region on penalties on Sunday to lift the trophy, marking their first-ever success in the competition.
In a statement, ERFA Chairman Lindford Boadu Asamoah lauded the players, technical team, and management committee for their “outstanding performance, discipline, and teamwork,” which brought glory to the region.
The Association also praised Division Two clubs and coaches within the region for their crucial role in identifying and nurturing the young talents who represented Eastern Region with distinction.
“We warmly congratulate the players, technical team, and management committee of the Eastern Region Under-19 Team for their outstanding performance, making the entire region proud,” Mr Asamoah stated.
ERFA further acknowledged the sportsmanship of all participating Regional Football Associations, particularly Brong Ahafo Region, the runners-up, for their impressive performance throughout the tournament.
Reaffirming its commitment to youth football, ERFA pledged to strengthen its development structures and build on the foundation laid by the “Power to the Youth” initiative to produce future football stars for Ghana.
“The Eastern Regional Football Association remains firmly committed to developing young football talents and will continue to build on the foundation laid by the âPower to the Youth’ initiative,” the statement concluded.
