English-Ghanaian forward Daniel Adu Adjei found the net for HNK Rijeka in their 1â1 draw against Slaven Belupo in Round 10 of the Croatian HNL.
Adu Adjei, who started and played 66 minutes, opened the scoring just before halftime with a clever finish. In the fourth minute of added time, Tiago Dantas lofted a precise ball into the box, and Adu Adjei showed great composure under pressure, flicking the ball past goalkeeper Hadzikic into the far corner to give Rijeka a 1â0 lead.
Earlier, the former AFC Bournemouth forward came close to scoring when Dantas found him again in the 39th minute, but his delicate effort from close range flew just wide. Slaven Belupo equalized in the 75th minute through Andrija Filipovic, who redirected Adriano Jagusic’s free kick beyond Martin Zlomislic.
Despite the draw, Adu Adjei’s energetic display and goal drew praise from Rijeka fans. The team now shifts focus to their UEFA Conference League clash with Sparta Prague.
