Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has stated that the government will determine the future of Black Stars coach Otto Addo at the appropriate time.
The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach has been the subject of mixed reactions from fans and pundits following Ghana’s fluctuating performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Addo came under heavy criticism after Ghana’s 1â1 draw with Chad on Matchday 7 in September, but redeemed himself with a hard-fought 1â0 win over Mali in the Matchday 8 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars built on that momentum on Wednesday, October 8, delivering a dominant 5â0 victory over the Central African Republic at the Stade d’Honneur in Morocco â a result that has boosted morale ahead of their final qualifier.
Speaking to Adom FM, Minister Kofi Adams acknowledged the divided opinions surrounding Otto Addo’s leadership but assured that the government would take the best course of action in due time.
“We indicated that at the right time, we will look at the concerns of Ghanaians, and that time will come," he said.
"We have divided opinions at the moment, but we have been given the power to manage and rule the country, and at the end of the day, we will make the right decision on Otto Addo," Adams added.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 22 points. The Black Stars will conclude their qualifying campaign on Sunday, October 12, when they host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
