Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has stated that he is hoping for the speedy recovery of his injured players, as having a full squad to choose from is the kind of "problem" he wants ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With Ghana on the brink of qualification, Addo faces the upcoming crucial matches against Central African Republic and Comoros without several key players. However, he remains optimistic about their eventual return.
"I am really sorry for Inaki [Williams]; I hope that he gets well soon but it’s not only him," Addo said. "There’s also Tariq Lamptey, and we have long-term injuries like with [Abdul] Mumin and Ernest Nuamah. I’m just praying for them to get back."
The coach made it clear that while selecting a squad from a fully fit player pool would be difficult, it is a challenge he welcomes. He explained that this competition for places is essential for building the strongest possible team for a major tournament.
Addo also praised the recent return of Fatawu Issahaku and Alidu Seidu from their own injury layoffs, highlighting their successful reintegration into the squad.
Ghana needs positive results in its final two qualifiers to secure its place at the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
