England international of Ghanaian descent Kobbie Mainoo is closing in on a move to Italian outfit, Napoli ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mainoo has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United, making several substitute appearances in the English Premier League after seven matches.
The 20-year-old requested for a loan move during the summer window, but the Premier League giants blocked him from departing the club, while urging him to fight for a place in the team.
As the winter window approaches, the Serie A champions are said to have contacted Manchester United for the acquisition of Mainoo.
Currently, Napoli are in pole position to sign the English-Ghanaian youngster on loan in January, having maintained contact with Manchester United since summer.
While Mainoo is open to a January move, Manchester United are determined not to lose their key prospects easily.
The Red Devils values the 19-year-old midfielder at £70 million, with his current contract running until 2027.
In all competitions, Kobbie Mainoo has made six appearances for Manchester United this season.
