Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Morocco on Wednesday.
Appiah, who famously led Ghana to their maiden World Cup appearance in 2006, shared his optimism after observing the team’s training sessions, drawing parallels with some of the country’s most memorable qualifiers.
"As I watch the guys train, it reminds me of some of the biggest qualifiers we played, like against South Africa at FNB," Appiah said.
"It’s a huge game for Ghana and for them too because the World Cup is massive.”
"Against Chad, we started a bit slow, but I believe they have learnt their lessons now," he noted.
Appiah, a symbol of leadership and resilience in Ghanaian football, ended with a heartfelt message of encouragement to the players.
"We believe in them, and I know they believe in themselves. They should do it for themselves and for Mother Ghana."
Ghana currently leads Group I and could seal qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a win on Wednesday.
